Latest Updates from Our Project:

The 10th Thief, Morgan
over 5 years ago – Wed, Sep 26, 2018 at 06:08:14 PM

We're in the double digits now.

Gonna keep this one quick! Gotta get back to work on that Trailer.

That's all for me, but now I want to give a quick Shoutout!

The game is called Reimei no Gakuen, it is a visual novel currently running on Kickstarter. They reached their main funding goal and are now onto their Stretch Goals with 14 days still to go!

Reimei no Gakuen is a modern fantasy VN about a mystery surrounding children who were born with strange powers. There is a demo for the game out too. You can check out their campaign here:

The 9th Thief, Ruby
over 5 years ago – Sun, Sep 23, 2018 at 04:19:45 PM

Lets get right to it.

We're onto the 9th Thief now, Ruby. He's a character I've had planned from the start but his design has been changed so many times now. I can't promise I won't go back over all of these characters again someday, but for now I like his look.

I've also been making changes to the game's HUD. It now highlights the entirety of your team. You can now break away from the Crosshair and control a Cursor. With the Cursor you can click one of the Character Portraits or the Gear to the left of them. In common video game fashion, the Gear opens an Option menu (there will also be a hotkey for this). If you click on the Character Portraits, you're given a Bio of that character, along with their current status in The Game. It will keep track of whether they are currently Marked, which Tokens they have, and their Rankings among the rest of the 15 Thieves.

That Menu isn't quite finished yet (and it's pretty ugly right now) so I'll save its Reveal for later.

Next, we have 2 big Updates coming. The first Update will focus on the 10th Thief. This will most likely be on Tuesday. Then by Friday I will release the 2nd Trailer for the game. It will consist of the new characters, some Puzzles and Locations I've yet to show off and more. I believe things will pick up again once that's released. So please look forward to it!

I won't give up on the project so I hope you guys don't either. I'll talk to you all again real soon.

Half Way There + Stretch Goals
over 5 years ago – Thu, Sep 20, 2018 at 04:12:06 PM

We passed the halfway mark in funding! Progress has been great on here and behind the scenes. I've got some new stuff to show off this Update, and a lot more in store.

Starting with what I had promised for the 50% Mark, the Stretch Goals for Thief's Roulette.

I don't see much beyond this in terms of Stretch Goals, so this is likely the extent of them.

*Regarding the Full Voice Acting goal, Thief's Roulette will launch with very Partial Voice Acting even if we don't hit the 40K mark. Partial Voice Acting will be voiceovers that happen rarely, during the most important events. With Full Voice Acting, I can get more voice lines and really bring the Characters to life.

I started work on a CG. I've still got a bit more work to do on it but its heading in the right direction so far. I also plan on adding some slight animation to make it really pop.

Since I'm showing off some early visuals, I've also gotten further into the new Challenge Room.

A quick behind the scenes look.

There's a second Trailer in the works that I will be releasing next week, and a couple more Characters to go with it. It will also show the finished version of this new Location so I hope you guys spot the improvements.

Thank you guys once again for all the support. The next Update is coming very soon and will show off the 9th Thief. Bye for now.

My New Friends + Quick Update!
over 5 years ago – Tue, Sep 18, 2018 at 01:09:30 AM

I met some cool dudes on Kickstarter that are seeking funds for a carrying bag for the Nintendo Switch. It looks sweet, it takes me back to carrying my Gameboy Advance around (if anyone remembers those carrying cases), except these are much nicer.

3 Up –  The Ultimate bag for your Nintendo Switch

The 3-Up is a Switch bag designed for gamers who want a practical and stylish way to carry their switch. Designed by gamers, for gamers it’s the perfect home for your Nintendo Switch.

You can check our their Campaign here:

This week I'll be showing off a new Character and a CG for the game. We're super close to 50% Funding too! When we hit that I'll be posting the game's Stretch Goals. Lets keep it up. Talk to you soon :)

Character Update - Roger [The 8th Thief]
over 5 years ago – Fri, Sep 14, 2018 at 06:39:26 PM

Time for another Character to join the Cast. This time, its Roger, the Sensitive Thief. He might not like that name.

Although Roger is a kind hearted person, he was taken to Thief's Roulette for a reason. The Thieves always have a story to tell, if you're willing to listen.

And that's Roger. I guess I also hinted at another character here, and a dimly lit new location. It's a Puzzle that takes place in a small train station. I'm really excited to get it cleaned up and ready to show off. I've had a lot of fun designing it.

That should cover the Character Portion of this Update. Onto that gameplay.

The HEM System

Just a quick look at the HEM System again.

HEM stands for Hand-Eye-Mouth and I swear that's nothing suggestive. Hand lets you grab things, like doors and items. Eye allows you to zoom in on objects of interest and allow your Character to give an analysis of what they see. Mouth is primarily used to speak to characters. In the Roger video up above, you see that I activate Mouth (on PC its Number 3), then I click on Roger. That activates dialogue. In the Trailer you can see me opening doors and pulling levers as well.

The HEM system is very simple I think. You activate one of them, then you select the target. What happens varies based on the Command you have active. Use H on a door and you attempt to open it. Use E and your character inspects the door, "Yep, that's a door." With M you can try to talk to the door but it's likely not up for conversation.

I want to keep the unique effects that the HEM system has a secret. When the demo is complete you can run wild and find them all.

The system is inspired by those old point and click adventure games. I always enjoyed those games, and have incorporated much of what I liked in that genre into the game's puzzle design.

This was a less rambly Update, but I still like to end these with a look into the game's systems or at least what I hope to do with them. Not sure what I'll talk about next time but I'll come up with something.

I hope you like Roger, hes a bit less striking than Lillian, but I still enjoyed drawing him up. I've got more Characters to show next week and that first CG finally so that's something to look forward to.

The Campaign is moving along great by the way. The support has been really pushing me to work even harder on the Project. I know we will get this thing funded.

Something I've gotten questions about are the game's Stretch Goals. Right now I have a short list of Stretch Goals I would like to put up, but my initial plan was to show them when the Campaign hit 50%. Would it be best to post them right now instead? Let me know if you have any thoughts on that.

And that's it. See you next time. Also keep the questions coming. I try to respond to everything.
